GLE project – update

23 April 2026

Our team dedicate time each year to help promote the Island’s understanding of bats by undertaking various research projects. One of those is The Jersey Grey Long-eared Bat Project which we have been running since 2019.

Last night our team went out for the first bat trapping session of the year at one of our regularly monitored sites. An excellent start to the season with 12 bats captured from 3 different species:

  • Grey long-eared bat, Plecotus austriacus
  • Common pipistrelle, Pipistrellus pipistrellus
  • Natterer’s bat, Myotis nattereri
Outdoor insect collecting setup in forested area.
