About Us

A team of ecologists, researchers, and land managers working to protect Jersey’s natural environment.

Sangan Island Conservation was founded on a simple belief: that good conservation starts with good evidence, and that the Channel Islands deserve specialists who know the land intimately.

About-Us-Ecologists
About-Us-Researchers

A small team with deep roots in Channel Island ecology.

Between us we hold doctorates and master’s degrees in ecology, conservation, environmental law, and zoology, alongside protected species licences in Jersey and Guernsey. More importantly, we have spent years walking the hedge banks, woodlands, and coastlines we work to protect. The Island’s wildlife is not an abstract subject for us. It is the daily focus of our research, our fieldwork, and our wider voluntary commitments.
Part-of-a-wider-conservation-community-in-Jersey-and-beyon

Part of a wider conservation community in Jersey and beyond.

Our directors and ecologists hold roles with the Jersey Bat Group, Société Jersiaise, Jersey Heritage Trust, the Mammal Society, the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management, and the Royal Society of Biology.

We teach, examine, sit on committees, and contribute to policy. The work we do for clients sits within a much larger picture of conservation in the Channel Islands, and we feel a responsibility to both.
